Chesterfield Roundabouts:

To Sheffield

Chesterfield roundabouts are a good place to show off your awareness and planning skills.

You must ensure that you are in the correct lane in good time on approach to a roundabout.  (Make sure you listen to the examiner's or SatNav instruction).

If you have to change lane you must ensure it is 100% safe and appropriate to do so.  If in doubt, stay where you are and go where the lane takes you.

Remember your three 'S's (Stop, Slow down and Swerve) at all times if you need to switch lanes on approach.

Further Hints and Tips

Ask your instructor for a free copy of "The Roundabouts of Chesterfield" booklet.

"Walk" round the roundabouts using "Google Street View" on Google Maps

Navigate a friend or family member around the roundabouts.  This might help to memorise the routes without having to think about driving at the same time.

Use the road signs that show the lanes as opposed to the roundabout signs where possible.

Read the floor on approach to find the correct lane, widen the gap between the car in front if necessary.

Remember, if in doubt, ask your Driving Instructor, they are there to help in every possible way they can.
Your confidence and ability, as well as your test pass, is at the forefront of everything they do.
